The agreement is intended to make traffic movements within the airport smoother and more manageable, ensuring that motorists park correctly and pay the proper rates using the parking meters provided. The new parking attendants will be able to issue fines for parking violations. 15 Air Pullman employees will be specially trained for the job of parking attendant. The first candidates, who have just completed their training, were sworn in today as Qualified Mobility Operators and Mobility Operators before Piergiulio Gelosa, President of the Union of Lombardy Municipalities Lonate Pozzolo and Ferno. The employment contract is governed by the public transport workers national collective bargaining agreement (CCNL). The service, provided on behalf of the municipalities and coordinated by the Municipal Police, consists of monitoring vehicle traffic at Malpensa airport and enforcing parking regulations to prevent motorists parking in bus lanes reserved for public transport. The municipal union will pay SEA a 50% contribution to the total costs of providing the service, less expenses borne for training, materials, vehicles, equipment and forms assigned to Air Pullman personnel. The service will be run as a (not automatically renewable) trial until 31.12.11, when it will further tuned to the specific conditions of the airport, peak traffic times (daily/seasonal) and economic returns.
